Electric Glycol Pump
INTRODUCTION
For more than 60 years Kimray has been setting the standard in glycol pumps. With the introduction of the 2G Electric Glycol Pump, the Kimray family of pumps continues to improve. This electric pump has been created specifically to handle volumes of less than three gallons of glycol per minute. Kimray’s standard Electric Glycol pump can pump up to 8.3 gpm but is less efficient below three gallons. That’s when the 2G shines. Kimray’s line of Electric Glycol Pumps are positive displacement pumps that operate in conjunction with a properly sized electric motor. No gas is required for operation.
OPERATIN G PRINCIPLE
The Kimray Electric Glycol Pump is a single acting pump which uses electricity to bring low pressure dry glycol from the re-boiler to high pressure dry glycol going to the absorber. The electric generator turns a drive shaft, pushing and releasing a plunger attached to a diaphragm. The diaphragm forces the glycol out of the pump. When using an electric glycol pump, the operator places a liquid level controller on the absorber and uses a dump valve to flow the wet glycol to the heat exchanger and onto the flash separator. An additional regulator will be needed to lower the pressure before it enters the reboiler.
A design advantage is that the glycol/amine solution remains on one side of the diaphragm, never coming in contact with the plunger. This isolating design allows the plungers to remain clean and lubricated in Kimzoil hydraulic fluid which prevents normal wear on the pump, resulting in long run times and less maintenance. This system features no gas emissions, no packing and hydraulically balanced diaphragms. Because the pump works on consistent current of electricity rather than relying on the varying force from the absorber, it provides a pulse-free flow. The Kimray Electric Glycol Pumps can be purchased individuallyor with a motor sized to meet your needs.
If you are considering converting a site from our Energy Exchange glycol pump to Electric, many of our customers are hanging on
to the Energy Exchange glycol pump to use as back up in case of a power failure. Please ask your sales associate for detailed instructions on howto convert your site to use the Electric Glycol Pump.
